Acqua Iguazu: Residential ‘Eden’ Rises In Metro
Metro Manilans will soon relish living at one with nature while in the middle of all the Philippine capital city’s hustle and bustle via a world-class, first-of-its-kind residential community that is now in the works in a 2.4-hectare property in Mandaluyong City.
Named Acqua Iguazu, the P1.3-billion project is Acqua Private Residences’ fifth building to rise, following the successful Niagara, Sutherland, Dettifoss, and Livingstone (interior designed by MissoniHome) ventures.
The much-awaited multi-tower residential development is a project of the Century Properties Group, Inc. (CPGI) currently being built in partnership with a United Kingdom-based interior design company. It is located at the Mandaluyong City side of Pasig River, near the end of the Estrella-Pantaleon (Rockwell) Bridge and right across the Rockwell-Powerplant Mall complex in Makati City.
“Acqua Iguazu is a vision that is coming to fruition. We imagined and planned this to be the premier riverfront development in the country,” CPGI Co-COO and Managing Director/ CPGI Acqua Private Residences Project Head Jose Marco Antonio said during the groundbreaking ceremony and grand opening of Acqua Iguazu Sales Center last Wednesday.
“Nonetheless, Acqua Iguazu is the tallest tower of the Acqua Private Residences completely befitting of our collaboration with none other than ‘yoo inspired by Starck’ company,” added Antonio.
Founded in 1999 by legendary French designer Philippe Starck and international property developer John Hitchcox, yoo inspired by Starck has been working with international developers for residential, hotel and commercial projects throughout Asia, Australia, Europe, Africa, North and South Americas and the Middle East.
“I am very proud to present the first yoo inspired by Starck building in your beautiful country and I am delighted to be part of this very exciting project,” said Starck, who wanted to be present at the event but could not make it, through a video message. “Those of you who have experienced our designs before are in for another surprising, inspiring and delightful journey.”
“Because these spaces will be permanent homes to a lot of people, we have made our creations unique and very special,” said Hitchcox, who also graced the event along with yoo inspired by Starck’s Head of Design Mark Davison, Marketing Director Michelle Van Vuuren, designer Anastacia Kessaris, and CPGI Managing Director/ Int’l Collaborations Head Robbie Antonio.
“Yoo’s style is edgy and fantastical, yet functional and environmentally conscious — characteristics that are consistent with our concept of Acqua, in which we confidently say, are also the desires of our target market,” explained Antonio during the lunch press conference that followed. “That’s why we believe yoo inspired by Starck is the perfect choice for Acqu Iguazu’s interior designs. Residents will experience life in new, culturally attuned ways that befit their styles and aspirations in life.”
Touted as the Philippines’ rising residential ‘Eden,’ the latest Acqua property will have a total of six buildings, with its entirety featuring a rainforest-infused theme.
“Two years ago, we had a vision: to build a rainforest-infused residential community unlike anything built or experienced in the Philippines before,” shared Antonio.
The more-than-50-story Acqua Iguazu tower will house nine units at a typical floor and four units at special floors and the sky garden for a total of approximately 400 units. Three interior design inspirations anchored on Minimal, Nature, and Culture themes were opened to serve as reference motifs for would-be unit owners who wish to decorate their own units.
Aside from one- to three-bedroom unit configurations, special Townhouse, Sky Garden, Private Garden and Penthouse units, which all make up the private collection called Acqua Privé, have also been carefully crafted for keen clients who desire to select extraordinary, special-offer and high-spec units.
Yoo inspired by Starck, according to Antonio, will design all the common areas of the building, including the grand lobby, hallways, and elevators, and the “crown jewel” of Acqua Iguazu: a rooftop amenity called the “Cielo” (sky).
Cielo is a three-story multi-functional sky deck that includes a number of impressive amenities: the Iguazu pool with a gushing waterfall, sun beds that provide magnificent views of the Pasig River below and the Makati City skyline on the other side, a wet lounge and bar, a DJ booth and dance floor, a gym and wellness area, an indoor and outdoor library, function rooms for business meetings and other gatherings, a well-equipped cinema room, and a dining area — all for the exclusive use of residents.
“Overlooking these amenities, seemingly floating in mid-air, will be a giant illuminated orb that will look like the sun during the day and the moon at night. This will serve not only as a light source, but also as an amazing conversation piece to charm residents whenever they use it,” described Antonio.
The Acqua Iguazu tower construction is projected to be completed by October 2018.
